New to gardening give me a clue!

So I have just moved in to my first house and I am keen to make the most of my garden. I don't have a lot of experience just what I remember from helping my late grandad in his garden as a child.  I need some help in under standing which way I am saying my garden is facing. Today I spent the day drawing up a map of where the sun hits at what time ect and a downloaded a compass on my iPhone which says I am a north east facing garden. This is where I am getting stuck do I take that I am a north facing or a east facing garden! All the plant listing I am searching for only give the option of north or east not north east.

I should think plants for a North or an East facing garden would suit a NE facing one

  • I think the same. Trial and error think I just need to plant and wait and see what happens.

What sort of plants are you looking at? Is your garden all shady or is there sun away from the house?

Hi every plant you buy will have a label telling you if it requires full sun part sun shade or part sun & part shade. So keep an i where your sun comes up in the morning and use that as your guide
