What are these shrubs?

Hello,

I have two unknown shrubs in my garden. The first is this one:

It's getting too large now and im not sure when the best time to prune it is.

The second shrub is:

image

I think it is an overgrown Cornus Sanguniea 'Winter Beauty' from one of the plant labels the previous owners of the house left behind. If it is a Cornus, I was thinking of pruning it back to about 30-40cm this spring. Is this the best thing to do?

    Viburnum tinus at the top. I'd shape it up when you've finished enjoying the flowers but make sure no birds are nesting in there first

    You're right re the second, I wouldn't call it overgrown. Maturing nicely. I've only grown 'Midwinter Fire' and that can't take the hacking back that the red ones thrive on, it's too slow growing.
