F1 Tumbler Tomatoes

I started off my indoor seedlings too early!! Lesson learnt for next year image

I had been keeping them in the house under lights but they seem to be getting quite tall and leggy. When I move them they seem to 'flop to the side'.

My question is should they flop to the side? Is this how they will trail in a hanging basket or should I put some small stacks in to secure them until they beef up a bit?

This is a picture from last week and they are a little taller again image

Can you get some taller pots, remove from the pot they are in and very carefully re pot so that they are buried up to about an inch from the first leaves, you can curl them round the new pot, they will then make roots all along the stem and be much firmer. Why have you got them under artifial lights. Have you got a window sill you can put them on, they are trying to reach daylight Poor little things.

Just to add, tumbling ones dont need staking just let them tumble over side of pot or habging basket.

Ooooh Lyn those tomatoes look lovely - really hope mine turn out a even slightly similar.

They are under artificial light because it is the only place I can close of from my 2 year old daughter! She generally understands to 'look and not touch' plants but finds poking her finger into bare pots of soil/seedlings irresistible. I also have a 5 month old daughter and find when my backs turned with her the elder one gets up to all sorts of mischief image

I have moved them onto our conservatory windowsill today and had a chat about not crushing the plants - she has helped me plant and care for them so far, hopefully that will count for something, fingers crossed.

Is that just 1 plant in the photo Lyn? What variety is it? It really does look fantastic, I never even thought to plant flowers with it as well image

How lovely to have two little girls, my daughter and son both have two boys,

Thank you Lyn. I do feel very blessed image

4 grandsons - wow, you must be very busy!

Am going to repot later this week (great advice about curling the stems) and have decided to put them into a windowbox now with some additional flowers after seeing that pic. So far so good on the windowsill (some soil poking but nothing too vicious image)
