Moss Moss Moss!!
I have read about moss and how much it can take over your garden if you are not careful. It really does take over!! We have lived in this house since July and I had not noticed the moss much until about 6 weeks ago otherwise I would have started clearing it sooner.
I have hand scraped moss off paths, used Beyes moss killer & even burnt it with a bunsen burner thing for weeds and its still there!! I have scraped moss off some of the flower beds and dug it over and unfortunatley there is lots of moss in my lawn because of over hanging trees. I will get the lawn aeriated and scarified this year to help that but the moss is driving me mad now. My husband thinks Im obsessed with it?!
Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get rid of this stuff? On some of the beds it was literally like a carpet I was able to lift of the top of the soil (and I bet the bin men who collect the garden waste will refuse to take it this week - they will say its soil waste!!). I have cleared lots of the moss now and think im winning however I see a thin greenish layer forming on the patios and not sure the beyer moss killer is up to the job.

On the beds keep the surface regularly hoed/raked - that should stop it developing

The sun in the summer should help.
I used in the ornamental garden ( with mostly hardy plants and shrubs )a mosskiller that is normaly used in lawns .It didn't harm the hardy plants and most of the mosses turnd brown and can be raked off.
