1st greenhouse coming
hi, this is my first post so here goes, my 10x 6 greenhouse is coming soon , the site in my garden is almost ready but i would like some advice on how the layout inside should work. 1st ive ordered a louvered window so where in the greenhouse should this go, side or back of the greenhouse. 2nd ,where should my posting table go, back middle on the sides or by the door. ive only every had a plastic on before some im quite excited, i keep looking over fences to see what other do but round by me they are a bit of a mess and mainly used for storage. thanks for any advice.

My louvre is at the opposite end to the door. If you have only one roof vent, you want that in the middle. The idea is to create a flow of air from the louvre (and door, when opened in warm weather), through the greenhouse and out of the roof vent. The better the air flow, the less trouble you will have with diseases, especially fungal problems which are exasperated by poor air flow.
layout of mine seems to work well enough for me although its a little shorter than yours. All down one side and the back is clear for grow bags on the floor (with growpots, highly recommended) for tomatoes.
Down other side about 3/4 of the length is wooden shelving. Top shelf for potting, cuttings, trays and more grow bags for cucumbers depending on the season, Shelf underneath for empty trays and misc stuff. Slightly raised shelf just of the floor over half the length for pots and rest for bags of compost on the floor.
The cucumbers do reach the apex and start to take over, next time I will raise it all a little bit higher.
Hi Barry
I'm excited for you! i hope you get years of pleasure from it. I got mine a couple of years ago and like you did a bit of research into the layout. I went with paving slabs down two thirds and then open soil down the final third. I plant tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions, garlic etc in the soil. I have two shelves down the opposite side for seedlings and cuttings. I also have a wooden pottering bench that I have out during the spring and then slip it under the shelves during summer. I've found I can never have enough surfaces. Having the slabs also enables me to grow in pots or grow bags too so the best of both worlds.
The only warning ive had from a helpful person on the forum is that I need to change the soil in the open bit every two or three years. Bit of a chore, and I've not done it yet. Just made do with adding fresh compost and manure in spring.
Here are some pics. Would love to see yours when it arrives. Congrats!
I have shelving and a potting bench on one side, a path in the middle and earth on the other side. I add rotted manure and compost to the earth each year for the tomatoes but I haven't changed the soil yet, been 6 or 7 years and it's been fine. Perhaps I've just been lucky. I spring, when I have loads of seedlings I put up trestles with planks on them over the earth bit to make extra shelving.
Trestles and planks.. what an excellent idea. Should fold away to not a lot for the rest of the year.
Thanks
Goes in the garage the rest of the year, tomatoes are then in that place in the GH.
Wow , thanks to everyone who replied. i have some good ideas now, Bob i have 2 roof windows but will place the louver on the back. Does it matter that the back will be close to a fence?. Great photo's too, i will take some, at the moment just building my foundations.
thanks everyone.
