  • End of April should be fine unless they are particularly tender plants.

  • Ignore me then! Definately not a hardy one that.

  • Thanks Jimmy and Pansyface off to google nasturtiums xx

I've read that nasturtiums are frost hardy, but I've also read that they aren't. One year I sowed them in March with the broad beans, straight into the ground. They came up beautifully then there was a late frost and they all died. If they aren't hardy then you can't plant them out until well into May so you will need somewhere like a greenhouse or a conservatory to keep them. I now don't sow them until April.

  • Oh dear, i have no conserv or greenhouse, will they not be ok there for time being? Will i have to re pot them?

They are alright at the moment Christine.

When you see roots out of the bottom of the pots, tip out and carefully pull apart and pot up seperately! you can use the same size pots for now.

  • Ok thank you, i saw somewhere on this site about pinching if you have 3 pairs on one stem, i nipped some leaves off, but didnt feel right, im sure i was doing it wrong, so hve left them.

I planted a wild flower mix last year, n' they have nasturtiums, they have somehow stayed green all year (yes now they look a bit shoddy - also dog has taken to walking and sitting on a patch!! image) I planted from seed and just through the seeds down n' they are still here this year. I live in Inverness, Scotland image

  • Oh brill thanks Lucy, lol @ the dog. Lets hope we both get some lovely flowers out of them this year xxx
