daphne

hi all, really sorry i haven't got pics, i'm thinking of using a daphne to plant in front of the dead looking very leggy ctems of my jasmine, i want a roundish evergreen bush around 1 metre, am just looking at odora aureomarginata, anyone any advice? thanks..oh also have the same leegy problem in the back garden, but whereas the front gets at least 3 or 4 hours of sun, the back is almost totally shaded, i have helebores and geraniums but may move in favour of something with more height, thanks again
