Hedging Options
Hi, looking to plant hedging around my back garden, need something that looks good and can be shaped easily when they get taller. The two I had in mind where the Griselinia littoralis and Beech hedge. I believe the Beech is not a evergreen in winter so not convinced about it yet. Would you have any other suggestions as what to use, have laurels in front but dont want to use them in back garden. Is it possible to plant the Griselina and Beech together as in a mixed hedge or would this look silly? Any thoughts folks?

Beech is deciduous but when grown as a hedge (i.e. regularly cut back) it keeps the brown leaves over the winter and they don't fall until the green leaves appear in the spring.
I don't think mixing them would work very well as they would need to be pruned at different times.
