Potash - wood burners

Hi, can you tell me if the ash from a wood burner is actually good for my flowering shrubs please ? I think it provides potash but before I spinkle it liberally over my soil, I'd like to be sure. Thanks

Here's what the RHS has to say about using ash from woodburning stoves in your garden https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=621.

I would stress that you should not use ash from painted or wood that has been treated in any way.

Oh thanks Dove, interesting read -  minefield, he burns anything, currently has a number of pallets in his garden, so may er on the side of caution and just put small amounts in my compost and dispose of the rest .....
