Does Struch keep slugs off Hosta & other tasty plants?

    Afraid not, they will just love hiding and breeding under that, but you could hide a few slug pellets under it.

    Thank you. I was afraid it might be of no use even though it was recommended on a gardening program, can't remember which.

    I won't try the pellets but I may well be out with my torch & use beer traps.

  • I've noticed if i use fine (3 or 4 mm) horticultural grit as a deep mulch around the base of plants that the slugs like this seems to reduce the attacks, Must be too dry or abrasive for the little darlings.

     

    Might be worth a go.

    Thank you for your help. Sadly we have no hedghogs left, the last one died several years ago but I will take your advice because we have a thirsty badger visiting & this garden is not a bar!
