I use my compost as a mulch, and I can't see any reason why you should not use yours for this purpose.
Would it still be ok on my allotment .I am a bit concerned about the white fly investing the veg crop
Excuse me for asking are they whitefly or springtails?
Had a lot of white fly in my plastic compost bin the other week, seemed to be the cardboard I had put in they were attracted to and using for breeding. I was amazed at then numbers but I guess it stays pretty warm in there even during winter. Turned it over, leaving it for next year.
I think they are probably fruit flies as I put a lot of kitchen waste in the compost bin It has been sugested that I put a layer of soil on it and this may help them disperse .Many thanks for all your comments.
