  • Hi Crazyflower I can sympathise with you. himself used my special border spade(gift from grandchildren) I think he used it as a lever or somethingimage he was very sorry and mended it using a length of stainless steel pipe. Now so heavy I can hardly lift it. so like you James am now looking for another, I like the sound of £9.99 from Lidl Hosta will definitely seek that one outimage

primrosecottage, it was  a couple of years back, but maybe they still sell them.

My fave tool , ( ooh erh missus) is a fork given to me by an old gardener who was retiring in 1987 and he said it was 50 years old then. I love it.

    Devon.
  • I've also got an old fork of my dads that's 50yr old r more, I'll use that meanwhile. Yeah, Lidl have garden tools in but for about £10 more I can get one with a lifetime guarantee. I read some reviews on BQ website that said their new spades soon snapped so with my OH 'helping me' in the garden think it may be worth me getting one with the lifetime guarantee.

  • If they don't Hosta I might look at B&Q on Wednesday I've got a gift card I could use. I was saving it to buy something special. If I do it will have a "don't even think about it " sign on it for himself image

We have a Cornish shovel and a Devon spade, I did try 'go faster' stripes round them but they still only work as fast as I can!

No make on them, they came from the farmers shops donkeys years ago,
