Can I mulch over snowdrop leaves?

Hello, a rare dry day here in Cumbria and I am hoping to do some work in my garden before it 'gets away from me' yet again.  I apologise if this has been covered elsewhere on the site or should be a technique rather than a problem but I am just using the site for the first time.

My flowerbeds are full of snowdrops that are now starting to die off.  Can I cover them with a mulch of old farmyard manure without effecting the bulbs for next years flowers? If mulching over them now will be a problem I will just have to carry on without it.  Thanks

Wait until the leaves have gone or you will damage future growth. The green leaves are feeding the bulb so need to be left to grow and die off naturally. This will take at least 6 weeks after the flowers have gone.

Thanks, I thought that might be the case. I will just have to be ready to pounce on the weeds as soon as the bulbs have had all their nourishment -  rain and gales permitting"
