Lavender cuttings
in Plants
I know that summer is the right time to take lavender cuttings - I have done this many times before - but I have two very woody-stemmed plants in a pot that I need to move/dispose of. Is there any point taking cuttings from them now, or should I be patient and just tuck them away until the correct time?

I think it would be worth a go if you can keep the last frosts off them. I think the main reason for summer cuttings is so you can choose the non-flowering shoots as they will root more vigorously rather than wasting energy on flowering. If you do a few some will be good though. I've got the same job to do, I will be waiting but it is tempting to get some going.
if you nip the tips out of the shoot you may have a better success ratio than otherwise
