    Hi

Today I used a solution of fairy liquid and water in a spray bottle on those pesky lily beetles it sprayed with a foam consistency , it worked, result. I got about 10 of them. I am not brave enough to squash them between my fingers. I will keep you updated.

Hi Colt, I also use fairy liquid. Luckily I have only found 3 so far this year and my lilies are looking healthy. I am being vigilant though and checking them every day and twice on Sundays.image   I am afraid I do squish them but I use a stone. I hate to kill things but I also love my pot of lilies. It wouldn't be so bad if they only ate a few leaves. I  would be happy to sacrifice a few. But last year they decimated them before I worked out what was happening.

    Hi Manderson

So glad its worked for you as well, I was thinking it was just a one off, I also love my lilies, hopefully we have cracked it, Two lily plants have suffered but all my others look good. For the first time last year I cut them got rid off all the leaves and had them in the house, the fragrance was amazing.

  • I've just started using neem oil for the last three weeks upto now only found three of those critters ,also using it on my veggies they use neem oil a lot in the states.

Haven't seen one this year.  I had a bit of damage early on but I think that was due to slugs.  I did give them a spray early on in the season just as they were showing through so whether that helped I don't really know.
