    I find a lot of invasive plants are difficult to get started. Jap anemones have never got established here (I still have hope and the space). Chinese lanterns were also slow to take.

  • I too regret planting the pink form of Japanese A about 12 years ago.  I am still trying to get rid of them and have more or less given up hope.  I just remove as many as I can when I see them.  The white form however is much less invasive and in fact I would like them to bulk up a little.  (Be careful what you wish for!)

    I wish mine were a bit more invasive. I want plants which flower reliably in the autumn and I've seen them at Sissinghurst and at other places, with roses and other perennials. Beautiful! image

    Thank you all for your advice. The digging will start tomorrow! ....and roundup will be bought in bulk!

    i have them, i like them but they have such a lot of foliage and shade a lot of my other planrs put, i've dug uop a few and moved some right to the bask of my beds, i tinherited them and think they're pretty established, i've been out today digging and trying to clear space for philaedelphus , viburnum and obviously 3 more roses... the ja will just have to grow around these!
