Osteospermum

Hi, have a yellow osteopermum growing in a flower bed. It's survived 2 winters, but this winter it looks very sad. Should I just leave it or cut it back? Any advice welcome. Thanks.

It is probably a non hardy variety that has survived those 2 winters with a bit of luck!

I would leave until it starts to show some signs of growth and then tidy it up a bit.

I agree with madpenguin, don't cut into it now as the cold will definitely kill it.  You could just try 'scratching' the bottom of a stem with your nail.  If there's even a hint of green you've probably survived for another year.  If it is ok, I wouldn't take a chance with it next winter, dig it up, put in a pot and leave almost dry in a frost proof place.  There are very few hardy osteos and those that are tend to be pale pink so I think you've probably been lucky keeping a yellow one out of doors through 2 winters.
