My sweet peas have what i think is powdery mildew. They are out in tubs/containers and i want to cure them before it's too late, they are about 7-8" max at the moment.
Im hoping you may have some good sugestions on a home remedy as i cant get to the shops this week. But any info would be great.
Hi I've looked at a lot of sweet pea posts on here, dont think can find answer, I,ve sown my seeds march and some april, I nipped off growing tip...could i have done this too early? They still look very straggly...i saw a gardening programme whwere one old chap chopped his in half when they looke dlike mine, is this a good idea? Never had much luck with sweet peas, am soooo determined this year to have masses of flowers!!
You could nip the tips of again they should be fine and grow stronger and side shoots as well, I have nipped my sweet peas in the past before a few times till they came out nice and strong
Mine are now showing and will be going into the plastic greenhouse sowed later as last year too early and did not grow at all
I did that...looking rather straggly still...slugs been round the few already in ground that were doing ok,why can't I grow great banks of sweet peas loke I remember my friend's grandad growing when I was little?
Am I not giving them enough support? I almost snapped stems when tried to tie them into bamboo canes, though was gentle, should i tie in or not? Should i use sturdier supports?
my sweet peas are lovely and growing. they are very strong ,no flowers yet.Has anyone heard from David? He has helped me along .I will show some pics good or bad ,hopefully good when blooming. Ta Debra
