I had almost given up on Sweet Peas because in July and August it can be in the 30°s for days at a time. But this year it was cooler and wetter than usual.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Mine were looking lovely until a second wave of aphids this month. I don't know if aphids can eat the flowers but there was a hell of a lot of headless stalks smothered in a thick layer of aphids. I ripped them out last weekend.
Hi David im back i have read a lot on the net about Sweet Peas and i have read that they do not like root disturbance is that right as i have three to a pot will i have any problems dividing them
Hi David i will sow 2 seeds per pot next year i went with the pkt that recommended 3 per9 inch pot i havent grown them before so went with that will plants still grow if i tease them apart or would it be better to take the strongest 1.
Yes, if you separate them carefully, plant them slightly deeper than they were in the pot and firmly they should be fine....just may take a little time to recover.

Hi, Wills...did you not read the message above yours?
As I've said many times, SPs don't like root disturbance, that's why I usually recommend sowing two seeds per pot & plant them out together.
