    Beautiful Rosemummy image

David, how ling should the sweet peas flower for before we actually let them go to seed?

  • Are you going to save your own seed, OL?

Not sure of the time scale, so many variables, such as weather involved. However, if you do intend to save your seed (not recommended) wait until the seed pods turn crispy brown, extract the seed, put the seed in a paper bag (not plastic) then keep in a cool place until needed.

PS. I keep mine from the suppliers in an airtight tin in a outhouse.

I don't think I will save them this year actually, I still have plenty left from Eagle and my cheap ones from Home Bargains (which flowered quite early and seem to be getting straggly now) were only 89p so I don't think it's worth messing along with everything else I need to do??

Some of my Eagle SP's picked today.  I have noticed that they have more flowers per stem and are a lot 'frillier' than the cheap ones from Home Bargains, they don't smell as strong but are prettier in my opinion image

  • Orchid lady in sorry i don't know what you mean by bumped up and i don't know what thread in looking for? Excuse the newbieness,,anyway ill find a way to post some threads with my questions , and ill probely see you in there in sure, , my orchids are Philaenopsis , and one has gone through flower and dropped them all so i don't know what to do with it at this stage, and the other has just started flowing with about six buds to go, iv heard they last up to about 7 years and like to know how to be able to succeed in that and maybe replant them so they get nice and big and a good center piece for my living room table ,thanks ,matthew

Hi Matthew, sorry, silly me should have explained so don't apologise.  I have now posted on your thread again.  Bumped up just means someone has written a post to make the thread go back to the top so it's easier to find.
