A fox has killed our neighbour's chickens so any deterent that works would be good news.

Foxes are protected?  Why?  Nasty chicken-slaying vermin and there are thousands of them especially in towns and cities.

I definitely think Contech Scarecrows will work to deter foxes, though I can't say they are inexpensive. They can only cover so much area and if a garden is not entirely open lawn, it takes several of the devices to really cover every part of the garden.

My own experience is we had a fox coming to drink at the pond when I had the units indoors to protect them from heavy winter frosts. Since setting them up again, he's not been coming back. Fortunately for him there is a larger pond in the field out the back, so he can have a drink there OK. I've no idea why but their poos really don't smell bad here, though I have smelt just how bad they can be. image
