Old Compos

what do you all do with your old compost?  Is it okay to put it in the compost heap?  I always worry about passing on diseases to other plants.

goes into the compost bins in my garden. Check for vine weevil though if you've had any problems with the little blighters.

    Devon.
  • I use it as a top-dressing on my borders and veg plots.  Over the years this has slowly improved my clay soil.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • I do both the above

If I suspect there may be vine weevil grubs in the compost I spread it out on a tarpaulin first and leave it a couple of days for the birds to rootle through - they get rid of them.
