Laurel disease?

Hi,
Does anyone recognise the problem with our laurel hedge - and how to treat it?

It does only seem to affect part of the hedge (closest to the house) - how would we stop the caterpillars?

Is this an on-going problem or a one-off occurrence?
I can't enlarge the photos for a good view but it doesn't look as though it just happened.
I have laurel leaves that look like that.

It's shot hole disease. Just cut back the affected parts there are no recognised treatments, it's a bacterial infection. Don't over prune it though.
It's been there for some time now (a few months).

No expert but looks like powdery mildew on your leaves? I also have some of this on my laurels and had assumed it was that as I have other plants affected.
I would also say the holes are caterpillar damage rather than shothole simply because I had the same on my laurel last year and took in a leaf specimen to garden centre and they said it was that.
Neither is serious in my understanding.
Sorry Abby2, caterpillars, aren't active at this time of year, neither is the Vine weevil. Vine weevil grubs are active at this time of year but they are soil borne larvea. The other pest is the leaf mining moth, again, not active at this time of year.
It's bacterial shot hole, and a minor winter infection.
Agree with Dave, shot hole. I treat mine with Fungus Fighter.
