  • Hi there what a list!!image

My tomatoes are on the go already I get them ahead early in the conservatory. I grow lots of different varieties because every time free seeds are on offer it's tomatoesimage

I haven't got Ailsa Craig but aperitif is good I had loads last year and they freeze whole and are soo sweet.

I am thinking of setting my onion sets off this weekend, I am going to put them in modules so that they are shooting before they go in the ground.Hopefully this will deter the pigeon s and mice from pulling them up. The rest of your wonderful list of seeds could wait I think, I am going to wait until the clocks spring forward as advised by a more experienced forum pal.  Happy gardening ????

No point in planting runner beans till April, they cant go outside till mid May At least.

You cant grow carrots in modules, they need to go straight in the open ground. Its nowhere near warm enough for that.

Much to early for cucumbers unless you have a well heated greenhouse.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • beans, peas, tomatoes, all grown from seed now small plants in unheated greenhouse

in Yorkshire but only 60% showing

  • I've been growing a variety of seeds in pots and trays since late Feb as I too am impatient. I always grow from seed.

planted outside beets, radishes (yes, grown from seeds in trays and transplanted), carrots (grown from seed  in trays and transplanted), onions and shallots already rooted indoors And we're planted out yesterday. Leeks all doing fine in a raised bed albeit they're really small Yet but growing. Broad bean seedlings out also. Sugar snap peas out in a growing bag.my pots are showing through outside in buckets. My cauli and red cabbage seedlings are huge, 4 sets of leaves and very sturdy!! They've definitely loved my outhouse And Jacks Magic soil which I can't recommend enough!

My peas are going  next in the main bed, the seeds are now 1" tall shoots so anyday soon they'll be out. My toms have all been repotted into individual 3" pots and my courgettes, runner beans, dwarf beans, sweetcorn and a variety of flowers are all growing away nicely in my Unheated greenhouse. They won't be out for at least a month yet but the plants will be sturdy and won't be bothered by slugs then!

Ive germinated parsnips indoors and they're going out in ground I've prepared by using 50-50 with sand as it's very much clay   as soon as rain stops up here in Fylde, Lancs. Had no failures of anything yet (fingers crossed). All my parsnips germinated within 10 days!! Even I've been surprised!  Can't complain other than I want to be out more but weather is foul yet again today!! Rain rain rain!
