when to cut back Fountain Grass?
in Talkback
I bought a Fountain Grass (miscanthus kleine silberspinne) last year and it has given me pleasure all winter. I see there are now new green shoots growing. Should I cut the whole thing back to about 4 inches, or just leave it to let the new growth push out last years old growth? Thank you. Mags

You need to cut it back to the base, trying not to cut off the new shoots.

Not many new shoots yet, so it should be easy enough to do. I will do it tomorrow. Many thanks for help. Mags
I did Miscanthus transmorrisonensis today and that very upright grass that has a man's name, Karl something

I've had trouble keeping it Verdun. There's not much green to see now and I hope that hasn't died like its predecessor.
