carrots

Last few years growing carrots on the ground has not worked .it used to , the sandy peaty soil used be brilliant.
I'd thought about trying them in deep pots instead

I grow mime in big pots to try and escape the dreaded carrot fly! Absolutely fine, just make sure to keep them well watered or they go woody, probably best picked young because of this
Try using stump-rooted varieties as they don't need as much depth - Chantenay has a great flavour.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
