Leeks

I am very much a newcomer to gardening in general & growing vegetables in particular. Last year I grew leeks for the first time & they haven't all been eaten yet.

I would like to prepare my bed for this year's planting soon so would like to pull the remainder of these leeks. I would like some advice on whether it is possible to store them for a while longer, and, if so, how & where.

Thanks

Leeks will keep for a week or two in a cold dark place, but they deteriorate.  I would cook and freeze them in meal-sized portions as leeks with a cheese or white sauce so they can be reheated easily, or even as soup (yum) image

Thanks all of you. I'll get on to that this weekend.

They can be heeled into a spare bit of garden, but remember to finish them up before they develop a hard flower stem in the centre of the leek.

Thanks Welshonion. I had one of those a few weeks ago, just pulled it out of the leek as I wasn't sure what it was.

Not harmful, just not so good to eat.
