Leeks
in Fruit & veg
I am very much a newcomer to gardening in general & growing vegetables in particular. Last year I grew leeks for the first time & they haven't all been eaten yet.
I would like to prepare my bed for this year's planting soon so would like to pull the remainder of these leeks. I would like some advice on whether it is possible to store them for a while longer, and, if so, how & where.
Thanks

Hello Mrs d2
Leeks will keep for a week or two in a cold dark place, but they deteriorate. I would cook and freeze them in meal-sized portions as leeks with a cheese or white sauce so they can be reheated easily, or even as soup (yum)

Agree - cook and freeze.
I freeze without cooking they keep and don't lose there colour
Thanks all of you. I'll get on to that this weekend.
Thanks Welshonion. I had one of those a few weeks ago, just pulled it out of the leek as I wasn't sure what it was.
