Sweet Pea Dilemma

  • Thanks so much David. The name should be familiar as yours is. I'm an old bbc'er from years ago. Had a teeny little London garden and no children back then. Now a mum to 2 and in Wiltshire with a massive garden overlooking fields. image

If no propagater or bag then are they just in greenhouse? Is about 10 degrees in there.
  • And thanks Chrissy and Lynn. I'm going to be a mass of questions initially. image
  • Thanks, Lyn...I've looked at the T & M site and TBH I thought the advice was about right, apart from the propagator, plastic bag and 'misting' bits.

Constant, nice to see you here....pleased my memory is still intact.image

I may be wrong, but I have faint memories of you posting a pic of a rather splendid amaryllis, with a snowy backdrop on the old BBC boards......you'll correct me if I'm wrong.   image

PS, congratulations on now having two ankle biters and a big garden.

  • Sadly not me David. But the beebs boards taught me all my gardening knowledge. I have a strong feeling the lot here will do even more. I remember you talking sweet peas back then.

I have taken a pinch of everyone's advice. I bought half seed trays, packed in the toilet rolls (I had to use them - ive been saving them for 4 months) and I watered them and covered with clear tray covers. I've brought them inside - no propagater and popped them on a windowsill. Fingers crossed.

    Thanks for all advice.
  • Ah well, it was still a splendid amaryllis whoever grew it. image

I think you'll find this forum has a less draconian approach than the old beeb boards and (by and large) has  a very friendly & helpful bunch of members.
