  • Luckily I have my own house and garden, only taken me 34 yrs lol.... i know there is a law about hedges and their height, but my neighbours are pretty relaxed. I've planted a holly tree, 2 pyracanthias, unbeknown to the neigbours, but I will keep them under control image

you do right planting random shrubs!

  • My own house I once had, Jazdean, but then my ex-hubby developed a taste for Malaysiaimage. But if things keep going well, I'll be back in a home of my own in a few years.

  • Sorry to hear what happened! Hope you get your house soon!

  • That's ok Jazdean image. Worse things happen to other people.

  • What ever happens in life, I always find gardening a comfort

  • I've only just started, Jazdean. But I have to say that when I dug a hole for a forsythia on Monday and on Tuesday I wished I had numbered my bones before I did that...I kind of felt alive again image

    hi Jazdean.

Nice sized plot. I'm sure the trees will give lots of privacy and be a haven for birds. ( let's hope they don't cast too much shade though)

A "new" garden is a wonderful thing.

I've always favoured buying a house with a garden I don't  like, then have never felt guilty ripping it bits and starting again.

    Enjoy.

    Devon.
  • Gardening certainly makes you feel alive willowkitten. Just feeling the soil on your hands and planting something that will grow image

thanks Hotafan! Yeah I basically ripped up the bare garden and did a lot of chopping down. I didn't feel guilty as I know I'm improving the garden. I'm getting loads of birds already image

  • Move to where I live, Hostafan1 and you'll find lots of gardens that simply consist of lawn. Very much like mine. But this is going to change. However, since I rent and don't own, I don't want to invest a small fortune.

You're correct, it certainly does make you feel alive. Especially when the soil has tenants lol. When I planted the forsythia I bought on Monday and found an earthworm in my hands...oh my..lol image. Good job it wasn't a slug, I can't stand them.
