Small greenhouse plants for beginner.
in Fruit & veg
Hi, I've got a new 'grow house' 4' long, 2' deep and 4'11" tall. Glass with sliding doors and shelves. Any tips on what I should attempt to grow in it And how much I will fit in?
thanks.

Tomato plants
cucumber plants
chillies
peppers
what do you like? What would you like to grow to eat?
Hi Fruitcake,
i thought a couple of tomato plants - is one enough, if two do I have differant varieties? Do I put these in a grow bag on the floor?
will they take up all the space? I assume a chilli plant or 2 won't take up too much space?
what else can I fit in? Any salad crops or herbs?
question overload!
There's no harm in having two varieties of tomato
in a grow bag is fine but make sure you watet them well. Chilli plants would be quite happy on a shelf. Herbs you could do in pots around the outside maybe, as well as potatoes in bags. Salads are quite happy in pots, and cucumbers can be quite rampant and like height and something to cling onto otherwise they end up clinging onto themselves and anything/everything around them.
i even have banana plants in my greenhouse- ok, only a dwarf variety but bananas are bananas!
Given es the height of your grow space, you might need to look into "patio" varieties, or just keep well on top of keeping your plants short.
How much space do you have outside?
All of the above are great ideas

How about some Pelargoniums too for some colour?
I'm sure I'll be squeezing some pelargoniums in if there's space.
