Not fair though is it? You're looking forward to your order and it's not what you wanted. Disappointing to say the least

I really don't know how they still get away with it after all the years I've read complaints on here - are people not complaining to them?  Or is it lots of new gardeners who are getting conned, and then think - probably wrongly - that they can't garden, or they did something wrong?  Baffles me to read this every year.

I agree with you Bookertoo Parkers have done that to both me and my mum .what  annoys me  is the last time I complained that the colour was not what I'd ordered I was told  the guarantee date has lapsed.  My mum also bought a double geranium which after nurturing  turned out to be single.  They only do that once to me. I'm afraid I lost it and threatened to take it further .

I got my money refunded for the plant but not the postage.

Bakkers are even worse, but  flowerlady when you phone , tell them you have proof of the order etc , even if you have binned it. And threaten to take it further  , it does very often help.

Come back and tell us what happens and who they are image

  • Thank you all for the advice and commiserations!

Good bit of detective work, Dove. You are correct - well done.

I'll report back after talking to the "garden adviser" tomorrow (Wednesday).

I have geranium splish splash i mine do look like the photos and arnt pink. They must have sent the wrong plant.

  • Success!

Spoke to garden adviser after three phone attempts. Admitted that they "might" have sent me the wrong plants.

He offered to replace them in October which I declined - don't really want to be thinking that far ahead

offered a credit on my account which I also declined - I've already done most of my seed and plant ordering for this year

eventually agreed that I could get a refund which I gratefully accepted.

I am still a bit miffed that I have been nurturing these blooming things for four and a half months - but my friends and neighbours will be pleased to receive a few plants each.

    Thanks for all suggestions everyone.

    RE  Bakers and Parkers

They're Dutch, Dutch growers have a truly terrible reputation in the horticultural trade!

They will not pay their due for "Plant Breeders Rights" will call plants by another name, but expect others to pay them!

    Chancers!

  • Glad you have received a refund. I'm sure your friends will appreciate your gifts.

By Parkers, do you mean JParkers-- the bulb company?     I have to admit I was disappointed by the length of time it took to receive my bulb order last autumn and wasn't going to order from them again but worried I'd be tempted back by the "free offers."  I thought they were known to have a good reputation for bulbs?  Or is this a different company?

    Hi,

    J parkers dutch bulbs

Have bought plants only of them twice, first time rubbish which they eventually replaced with more rubbish, should have learned my lesson then!

Two years ago received their catalogue and in a moment of weakness ordered £90 worth of plants, total mistake, though delivered with in the time scale, almost all were dead and dried out, some were missing, I cannot remember how many e-mails it took to get refunds, yes refunds, they kept refunding the odd amounts (£5.42,  £3.69 etc) in the end I gave up and out of pocket, never again!

The reason for my second order was to get alstroemeria   Indian summer plugs, they were small but grew  and flowered well!
