Cucumber Frames

My cucumber frame seems to spend most of its time empty. How do other readers use theirs. Apart from hardening off seedlings and a little over wintering, I just don't seem to make the most of them. All suggestions welcome!

What season is it empty?
Late Spring & Summer - Just don't seem to find things to go in it that won't overgrow it like courgettes or height wise other flowers or veg. Just does not seem productive.
What about a compact chili plant?
Fresh Chillies only 2.99Euros a Kg here so not cost effective I'm afraid especially as I only buy one chilli at a time and it lasts 2 weeks!! How about catch cropping??
