Beautiful pink and yellow. Is that a primrose?

tesni it was a .39 grocery store primula from last nov. nice though. after weeks of unnatural warmth two nights of -8C.protected a few things that had gotten ahead of themselves but all seems good. the huge silver maple had just started to produce  seed capsules which i believe all froze off which is a yay. if you see a film titled what we do in the shadows playing around, it's a hoot and well worth seeing.

a friend called to say the aloes are in bloom at the huntington, so drove to los angeles for a few days. this is my favorite, surrounded by aeoniums. home tomorrow-81/2 hrs. but through the high desert so very nice. may make a detour through death valley to see if anything in bloom.

wandering around death valley. camped at badwater last night-the immense, the amazing silence. around midnight the clouds cleared and saw what seemed like every star in the galaxy. not many flowers blooming but this phacelia would be wonderful to have. camping above bishop and hiking in the water meadows-iris missouriensis.

water meadows very buggy so moved camp up the mountain. beautiful, but icy wind after the sun went behind the hills. very cold this morning so up early and drove to lone pine for breakfast. fresh asparagus, tomato and cream cheese omelet with zucchini fritters-tasty. going to look at the owens river restoration project and then should think about driving home since i'm out of clean socks.

Haha, freedom is soo underrated, as is silence although these days the night sky is a little more overwhelming for me as it reminds me of my insignificance image

enjoy your meanderings, the orange flowers are so beautiful

took the back road between june lake and convict lake. road very bad with a lot of snow at the top, so exciting times for a few miles, but made it through. stopped at bridgeport hay and feed for a sandwich. also bought socks and canna pretoria-mostly because i was so surprised to see it there-never much success with cannas but am now committed. flipped a coin to decide between home home and bodie. bodie won. a great ghost town maintained in a state of arrested decay. went cross country to hawthorne and realized once again that it is truly a desolation crying out in the wilderness. camped on the walker river last night and definitely home today.
