artificially triggering germination

how to artificially trigger germination

Just wondering if anyone can help. I'd like to planet some Yellow Rattle from seed, but this should normally be done in Autumn as the seeds, I'm told,  need a cold period before germination.  I was wondering if it is possible to put the seeds in the fridge (or freezer, if this speeds things up) and be able to plant the seed in early March? Or am I just wasting my time, not for the first time either image

I'd sow them in grass now. It may be late but I don't think the fridge will help, they are parasitic or semi parasitic on grass.

Just throw and scratch around a bit. If you only get one or two, as long as you let them seed back into the grass they'll be with you forever.

Hi Bilje. If you have grass land it's hard to get other plants established in it to make a flower meadow. YR weakens the grass and gives others a chance to get goingimage

I find there are a lot of new gaps in my knowledge. I'm sure they used to be full of something. I just can't remember whatimage
