Lily Bulbs

Hi

I took delivery of some bulbs last Autumn. As per the instructions, I planted them immediately, in raised beds.

They began to sprout nicely, but the local squirrels decided to have a little nibble. They are now looking a little sad and dishevled.

Would I be able to place them in pots to save them, or is it too late for them?

Thanks.image

  • I don't know but you've nothing to loose image

  • I'd give it a try, though often the squirrels eat the "heart" or the growing point of the bulb, which will kill it.  Wrapping the bulbs in chicken wire may deter the squirrels.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Cheers.

They only seem to have taken the new green growth. No evidence of burrowing/digging.
