geranium madame salleron
in Plants
hi guys
ive been overwintering some geraniums, among them 4 "madame salleron" that I bought from my garden centre last year, in the sale,£1 each, all beautiful and they had lots of pink flowers .since then they've been over wintering in a spare bedroom, lots of leaves,no flowers.
ive just looked them up online and it says they hardly ever flower! is it worth keeping them for the summer?! I guess if they are just going to produce leaves I can still use them.but if they are never going to flower again, is it worth it? hum..

It sounds from this very interesting article http://www.perfect-pelargoniums.com/2011/04/madame-salleron-buyer-beware.html that the modern Madame Salleron sold in GCs nowadays may not be the older Madam Salleron which was traditionally used as a foliage bedding plant. Certainly if yours had flowers on when it was bought it sounds more like the modern flowering variety. If it flowered once it can flower again, but may need higher light levels than it gets indoors in the winter to encourage it.
