Stunted indoor hyacinths
I have some grown yellow 'City of Haarlem' hyacinth bulbs indoors, most of which have either no (or very stunted) stems. The leaves are also shorter than normal and then the blooms have tried to open just above the top of the bulbs!
I think I have followed the correct planting procedure i.e. they were in a dark cool garage for about 6 - 8 weeks, then when there was about 1" -2" of stem above the soil, I moved them to a lighter, warmer position until the stems were about 3" - 4" high and green, before moving them into a warm kitchen window to flower.
Pink 'Woodstock' bulbs, grown in exactly the same conditions, have grown proper stems and bloomed successfully.
Any ideas please?

Hello, and thank you for your comments.
I have already contacted the supplier and asked them why this has happened; they have not given me any reason, but simply offered me a refund!
So, as you say, it suggests there was something wrong with the bulbs in the first place, and not my treatment of them......!
