Dawn Chorus

How's your dawn chorus coming along?   I have been listening intently for the past week, and noting the time of the first notes.   They were starting at 7.15am last week, now we have birdsong at 6.45am.   The robin is always the first to sing, followed by his competitor (maybe last year's offspring?) on the other side of the cabin.   Then I can hear a little wren and a blackbird, followed by a great tit.  Others join in, but I can't identify them vocally, got to be chaffinches and blue tits in there, because we have dozens of them.

I do love my dawn chorus at this respectable time of day!   Later on we have to set the alarm if we want to hear it.   We do!  image

There is progress in the evenings too. In December the enormous flocks of starlings go off to roost at 4 o'clock. Last week they were going over at 5 o'clock.
