Shrub Identification & evergreen climber recommendations!

Hello,

I was hoping some one could help me by identifying the shrubs below - I appreciate it may be a little harder this time of this year! Also is shrub 2 the same as shrub 1? Apologies if the 3rd was is impossible - there may be many shrubs with this type of bud, I am novice gardener but eager to learn!

I also have another question - I have a large (13m) well sheltered, north facing trellis and would like to grow a selection of fast growing climbers? Mostly evergreen, if not all. Not too bothered about producing flowers but I would like the climbers to be different shades of green, reds and purples. I have very little knowledge of climbers, to give you an idea of style - I like Hydrangeas, ferns and ornamental grasses. I have also attached a photo below of a vertical living wall -love these colours and textures. Is it impossible to get this kind of full look on a trellis? Hope that helps! Any recommendations?

1 and 2 might be one of the privets and 3 one of the winter flowering Viburnums, fragrans, bodnantense or similar, I can't tell them apart

    3.  I was looking at  the pink flowers. I shall have to go and check if my buds look like that. I think it's stopped raining now so I shall need a walk round

It is lovely when in flower but not much to offer for the rest of the year. Not well shaped or wonderful leaves. I'd choose something that flowers in a different season.

  • If you check around the base of your viburnum you may find that you can remove one of the smaller stems with roots and get a plant for free.

  • Ok great thank you! Just been to the garden centre and wow, it will get expensive if I get everything I want!! image
