hi there,

i've recently bought a jasmine plant and wondered if someone could identify the variety and let me know if the flowers are ok to use to infuse with green tea... i don't want to poison myself!

thanks!

Jasminum sambac is the one usually used for tea. Have a look on Google. Yours looks like the one often grown as a house plant, but sorry, I don't know about tea.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I've had a look at the label on mine (had forgotten it's name!) and it looks the same as yours - Jasminum polyanthum.

  • I didn't know that Busy L!

Yours looks like the 2 I have in my garden - bog standard jasminium official.

Tough as old boots, mine has been growing throughout the winter down here in London. They say it's semi evergreen, but mine seem to both be fully evergreen. Were  bought for me as houseplants in M&S! But they were suffering indoors so I stuck them outside.

thanks for the id, i've had a quick look on google and it seems a few people have used this variety for tea infusion.

any ideas where i could easily get a sambac?
