Pruning a grape

hi there, I have a grape plant, I believe is 3 years old, never pruned. I believe this should be done every year in early December? I think I ought to cut it back before the new season but not sure what to do? Am not really interested in the fruit so much if that makes a difference? Thanks.

Not sure where you are, but i wouldnt chance it, grapes are prone to bleeding to death when pruned at the wrong time of year...ive missed the pruning window too, ive found they are easy enough to wind around wire supports to keep it out of the way til at least october when the sap is dropping rather than now when its getting ready to rise. It's not too late. It's been a cold winter and grapes should be pruned before the sap rises or they will bleed sap. That usually happens from March, so early February should still be OK. The best time, though is December.

I found this site helpful as it takes you from the beginning with a young vine.
