    Thanks Verdun

I grew mid sized ones last year which were great .Reason i want to grow big one is i own a bakery and make cheese and onion quiche and big onions would be ideal for them.

    Thanks

Thanks Edd I'll ask the people who run the allotments
  • Robinsons has been a supplier of giant onion seed for as long as I can remember. Also some garden centres sell young plants of Kelsae & Ailsa Craig, which (IMHO) is a very good way of getting started.

  • I will be sowing my mammoth onions on the 6th feb, not grown them for years, really looking forward to it image

Robinsons are my choice too Baza image

We have allium leaf miner here, anyone know of a biological controal please? Or is it just a physical barrier to keep them out? image

I generally get my onion seed in at the beginning of January, but it has been so cold this year I haven't put them in yet.

I have Robinsons Mammoth seed. Last year I had Kelsae as well.

The soil need good preparation. I use well rotted manure, Blood fish and bone, and calcified seaweed.
