I may have some DD, if they come up I'll dig some up for you. May need carrot cake though!

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I think it must be the shade that makes the difference. I bought a pot of flowering lily of the valley and planted them out in deep shade in heavy clay soil. Now I have to weed them out, they spread all over the border, through the roots of shrubs and other plants.

  • Right, as soon as I can I'll put the ones in the pot into the very dark patch behind the greenhouse. That's about the only bit of the garden that I haven't tried. Wish me luck!

  • Good luck Doris!

I've never had any luck with mine. Normally get the odd solitary leaf and no flowers. Well drained area though, heavy soil, part shaded. Hmm....

  • I threw some down between the arbour and the back fence last year, havent looked to see what happened yet (forgot if im honest) will defenately prove its a shade thing if they come up image

    Good luck dorris image
