thorny edge

just retired and need some advice about gardening  how can I grow a thorny edge in large pots I have some really prickly climbing plants against my side fence and front wall they have red berries and yellow berries in winter how can I take cuttings to use in large tubs to make a thorny edge at the bottom of my garden   thanks  ed

    They sound like Pyracantha. This site has about cuttings and how to grow them.

    They need to be kept pruned and have vicious thorns. I have never grown them in pots, but I expect the pots would have to be pretty big and will need a lot of feeding and watering compared with growing them in the ground.

    Pyracantha is dead easy to propagate, heel cuttings take best, so take a side shoot and just peel it away from the parent plant and pop it into soil or compost. You can take them in spring and in Autumn.
