Has anyone started seed sowing yet ?

I haven't got any further than planning for the borders and sorting seed out for the swap .

I feel it's still too early to sow and lose

I won't be sowing anything until March, but perhaps some lobelia in February as that worked last year. Even if seeds germinate plants go leggy when sown too soon.

As a hardy perennial grower I have a lot already sown, outside and in the cold GH

I agree with Nut. I have lots of HPs sown and in the GHouse, as some of them need a period of cold to germinate.

Annuals and HHPs will not be started till Mid February, indoors.

I agree with all of the above posts, but wont sow any annuals till mid March. I can never plant out till start of June so no point in sowing earlier.

chillis can be started now, they need a long growing season and some heat to help them germinate

I've got my chillis going. Most of them didn't germinate though. I think the top of the soil was drying out too quick. I've done a second batch now, and stuck them under a makeshift propagator to keep them moist. Just for the first week or so. Let's see if it works!

Also, a few hardy annuals such as sweet peas got sown in September and October and are in the cold frame.

If you find the soil drying out, use a fine mist spray bottle. That way they wont get soaked.
