I join the others in favour of Honda. Mine is still going strong and starts easily, bought it in the late 1980s. It is a solid and expensive one though, a Honda Pro. I also have a Honda rotovator which is very good.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
The Which? magazine & web site have a good review of lawnmowers. The Hayter Spirit & Motif ranges come out well as does the Mountfield SP555 (but more pricey). Al-Ko and the Honda Isy are also best buys.
As a retired machinery dealer i would advise Professional Hayter, Honda or Etesia machines they are more expensive but as has already been said you get what you pay for. Also change oil regularly and service annually.
Colin, I gave up having my Honda mower serviced about 20 years ago when the garden machinery place wanted more to service it than the garage wanted to service my van.

Been looking at this mower. Would this be a good investment?

I just checked the oil level and air filter.
You certainly have to balance servicing costs against the cost of a new machine every now and then.
