BIG BIRD WATCH

I did my count yesterday.  How do I submit my results?  I just keep getting a screen timing an hour for me to start now.  I just want to submit results.  OK, it must be obvious - but I can't find the link!  Can someone help me, please?  Mags

Did anyone have the same as myself - before counting began the garden was busy with birds - count started and birds hid in the bushes - count finished and they all flocked back!!?

That's how it goes Forester. No woodpeckers on my count but they've been drumming all round ever since.

Just submitted my results for the Big Garden Bird Watch. It was the same for me Forester2 they seem to know that you want to count them so they hide, little devils. It is a really relaxing hour just watching them though, most enjoyable.

  •  Forester2 and donutsmrs  Haven't put my results in yet, but its the same every year, loads of different birds before and after but hardly any when I'm counting.  Even had a Sparrow Hawk perch on the back of a garden chair two days ago.

So frustrating isn't it Elizabeth.  One of my cousins maintained that she always had a large amount of birds in her garden round about 4 o'clock pm so perhaps I should switch my counting time to just before sundown.

Walking round this morning , too snowy to do much, put up a Curlew, can't think what else it was. Have researched no other big brown bird with a long bill.

  • When we feed the birds we always call them as we put the food down.   My husband whistles for them first thing in the morning, and honestly, you can hear the birds answering him!   When I feed In the afternoon, between 2 and 3, I call them by shaking the plastic container holding the food (an old Miracle Gro fertiliser bottle, so useful), and they come flocking in.   I also shake the peanut feeder when I refill it.   It really does work, and it brought a lot of birds in for my birdcount.

Forester2, I wouldn't wait that late to count them, they will be going to bed!
