Lilies - Overwintering in pots
in Plants
Hi
Can anyone please tell me what to do with lilies in pots over the winter. I've put them in the greenhouse, but do I water them during the winter or leave them dry?

I have over 100 pots of liliums, and they all stay outside during winter. So far there have been no casualties. I never water them, just wait for the rain to do it. Works for me.
Lily bulbs on containers can overwinter outside if they are hardy varieties. My lilies are in very large containers and stay outside all year round.
If they have been forced to flower for Christmas keep them under cover until the weather warms up then put them outside and feed and water them, or plant them in the garden. If they have been forced they will probably not flower for a year or two because of the forcing process.
