I have it in a gravel bed, planted in a ribbon with carex 'Milk Chocolate' and grew agastache 'Apricot Sprite' with it, along with hemerocallis 'Corky', erysimum 'Apricot Delight', cream variegated and purple sage and thyme Silver Posy' nearby . In spring, tulip 'Cape Cod' pops up inbetween. This year may add some soft coloured eschscholzia as well. The ribbon gradually changes from green/silver one end to browny/purple at the other.
I love the movement of the grasses, even in the winter they bring the bed to life. (Well, not just now actually, they're buried in snow!) But it does seed itself around with some enthusiasm (it is an invasive agricutural weed in Australia).
I'm liking both of these ideas! I can see why that photo inspired you Edd, and Buttercupdays, I quite like the idea of the ribbon. Wish I'd bought more than 3 now!
