Please don't use cayenne or chili powder.  it's really painful and cruel?  Better to put unwanted critters off with a harmless but foul tasting/smelling garlic spray or the afore-mentioned grazer spray.

The live trap works a treat as I've used it in the past. It's just like a wire cage chuck some nuts in and you'll catch one within a day. Can be bought on eBay quite cheap

Yes, but in the UK it's illegal to release live grey squirrels once trapped.  They have to be killed or kept caged.

Just get someone in to shoot them. Doesn't cost the earth and they will come in a plain van

I've flagged the last one @Lyn so she's disappeared. These spammers don't give up easily do they?  Dredging up old threads.... :D
Amazing how people still don't get the issue with grey squirrels. If we didn't have them, we wouldn't need to do this

  • I know this sounds crazy but last year after the squirrels ate all of my buds I just happened to be cleaning out my car of Mardi Gras beads and decided to throw some up in my tree. I also let a couple land on the roof by the tree. This year the beads are still there and the squirrels have not been near it. Not sure if it's the shiny beads or the squirrels moved on. There are still plenty of squirrels in my yard though. You have to really look to see the beads but they are still there. If you don't have Mardi Gras in your area I am sure you can buy the beads online. :)

No idea what Mardi Gras beads are,  @lonijarmany1tzD-m- so I doubt anyone will bother much, especially as the thread's many, many years old.  :)
If it works for you that's great, but most people here in the UK just accept it's one of the problems with these r*ddy pests, and use other methods to deter them as much as possible. Water scarecrow for example.

I feed peanuts to the birds, but object to the grey bushy-tailed rats filling their cheek pouches and gnawing the holder.

But just trapping or killing one is not enough, it will soon be replaced by another.  Same witj Jack Russells, when the dog is inside, the pests will return.  A friend bred borzois, they could catch and dispatch them given a 10m gap to the nearest tree.

And thank you Chicky for "Grazers spray".  I will tryit on my Roe Deer.
